Privacy, in plain language.
ItsYourBenefitsis built so we hold as little of your information as possible. Here's exactly what happens with your data — no legalese.
Your claim answers stay on your device
The questions you answer about your conditions, service, and family are stored in your browser's local storage on your device — not on our servers. The "Clear my data" button in the tool erases all of it. If you use a shared computer, use it.
One honest exception: the statement-writing helper
If you choose "Draft my statements," your condition answers (the questions and the answers you picked — never your name, Social Security number, date of birth, address, or contact info) are sent to Anthropic's AI service to write your draft statements. The drafts come back to your device. We do not store your answers or your drafts on our servers. If you'd rather not use AI at all, choose the fill-in templates — they're built entirely on your device.
Your identity info never leaves your device
Your name, SSN, date of birth, and address are typed at the very end, filled into your PDF forms by your own browser, and held only in memory — they are never transmitted to us and are gone when you close the tab.
Your contact info is separate from your claim
When you start the tool we ask for your name and email (phone optional) so we can send you your packet tips, reminders, and future resources we build for veterans. That contact info is stored on its own — your claim answers are never attached to it, transmitted with it, or linked to it in any way. Unsubscribe anytime and we stop emailing; ask us to delete it and we will.
We never sell data. Ever.
No ads, no data brokers, no "partners." The tool is funded by voluntary donations from veterans it has helped — that's the whole business model.
Payments
Donations are processed by Stripe; we never see your card number. Donations are voluntary, never required for any feature, and are not tax-deductible.
Questions or deletion requests
Your claim data is already under your control (it's on your device), but for anything else — like removing your email — reach out via TikTok @calegon and we'll take care of it.
Effective June 2026. If our practices change, this page changes first.
